David Haden on his blog Tentaclii has recently discussed the possibility that New Hampshire’s Isle of Shoals at least partially inspired Innsmouth’s own Devil Reef. Considering our recent Innsmouth issue, I thought these links might be of interest.

One of the sources he cites is “Legends and Supersitions of the Sea and Sailors” (1885), from which I obtained the lovely image to the right.  Spooky!
